Time to Schedule Those Fire Safety Inspections Again

January 31, 2019

Fires do not happen on a set schedule and could surprise you at any time. With this in mind, it is extremely important that you are prepared in the case of this emergency. To help with this, make sure you schedule time to ensure that you have attended to the following:

  • Fire Safety Inspections
  • Fire Safety Plans
  • Fire Equipment Inspections

Fire Safety Inspections

Fire safety inspections should be conducted by a specially trained technician who can conduct a thorough examination of all aspects of your fire safety program, to make sure that in the event of an emergency, you and everyone else are prepared and safe. These inspections can look for problems or areas of concern in your fire response program and suggest ways to better prepare.

Fire Safety Plan

One suggestion your fire safety inspection might have is to make sure you have a clear, and efficient fire safety plan. This should be a planned document that addresses the safety of all occupants within the building. A fire safety plan is quite extensive, and a requirement for every building to have and maintain.

Fire Equipment Inspections

Another important aspect of a fire safety inspection is to ensure that all fire equipment is inspected and determined to be in working order. This includes:

fire alarms;
emergency lights;
sprinkler systems;
fire hydrants; and
fire extinguishers

You may also have other fire equipment that should be regularly inspected and maintained to ensure it is ready should the unthinkable happen.

The best response to any emergency is to be vigilant and prepared. By having regular fire safety inspections conducted, you can be sure that should a fire happen, you and everyone else will be prepared and get out safe.
